March 23rd
Here we go. The adventure has officially begun. Ok, well kind of. I have been on leave for work for over a month, prepping the RV with paint, etc. Brian is still working full time so our first few adventures may be limited.
We decided to rent our home on AirBnb to help us expense full time RV life. This weekend is our 3rd trial run. Out I came in full swing with bleach, Windex and a good set of gloves and towels to scour down my house. I mean scour. Our first renters claimed to have found some jelly on the counter, which set my brain into crazy cleaning overload. I scrubbed everything twice. Emptied out all my cupboards and wiped down every corner I could find. Bathrooms smelled a bit toxic after I was done disinfecting them. But after about 2 days of this I decided my house had to be clean enough!
Friday morning we packed everything we owned into a 2 car garage. That included 2 cars that had to stay behind. Yes. Everything we own AND 2 cars fit in my tiny California garage. That might be saying a lot about how we live already. Small.
We barely had everything in and packed by 1:55 pm, and our renters were set to arrive at 2 pm. We RACED out of there and headed for the beach at Oceanside Harbor. Exhaustion soon set in and everyone fell asleep in the Maj around 3 pm. I decided to get dressed and get in a nice run on the beach while I had some alone time.
Riley woke up as I was putting on my shoes and said she wanted to come. What? Is that a normal thing for a 5 year old to want to do? Run with her mom? I know she’s going to grow up so fast and not want to do anything with me soon. Plus, I finally feel I have time now to run slower. But not that slow. SHE’s FAST!!

She ran a full 1.25 miles to the pier with me. It turned out to be a great HIIT workout. She would take off running at full speed and I would chase her, and then we would walk for a short while until she was ready to jet set again. This girl is amazing! I think I’m going to love spending so much more time with her! Being a working mom with your baby in daycare everyday is a tough thing to get used to. She’s been out of my arms since she was 18 months. So many days I have missed her smiles and giggles. I’m going to soak in every minute of this!
We took a break on the pier and watched the surfers catch the waves, while she told me about how she was going to be better than them some day. (Fingers crossed for her on that one).

Sun was starting to set so we ran the 1.25 miles back to the RV, and she ran nearly the whole way. (How do tiny legs work so dang well!)
The boys were awake and making dinner (THANK HEAVENS) and we enjoyed our first sunset dinner at the beach. I think we are going to ease into this RV thing quite nicely.
